How Your Information Is Used
Parkingly uses this information to:
- Record your path after you park

- Help guide you back to your car
- Display the photos, section labels, and notes you attached to a session
- End a session automatically in certain situations
- Show a Live Activity and local notifications related to an active parking session
Where Data Is Stored
Parkingly stores parking sessions, breadcrumbs, timestamps, parking section labels, notes, photos, and related app data locally on your device using Apple's on-device storage technologies.
Parkingly does not operate its own cloud account system or backend for the current version of the app.
Data Sent Off Device
Although Parkingly is local-first, some requests may send data off your device.
Parkingly uses Apple MapKit services for map-related features such as reverse geocoding. When those features are used, Apple may receive the coordinates needed to return map or place-name results.
Parkingly uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand how the app is used in aggregate. The signals sent are anonymous and limited to non-identifying technical metadata (such as iOS version, app version, device model, locale) and product events (such as starting or ending a parking session, opening Return Mode, or granting location permission). TelemetryDeck does not receive your name, email, location, photos, notes, parking sessions, or any payment information. The user identifier used is a one-way hash that cannot be reversed and is not shared with advertisers or other apps.
When you make an in-app purchase, the transaction is handled by Apple through the App Store. Apple receives your payment information under its own privacy policy. Parkingly only receives a signed receipt indicating that a purchase was made or restored; it does not receive your name, email, billing address, or payment details.
Camera and Photo Library
If you choose to attach a photo to a parking session, Parkingly can either open the camera (after you grant camera permission in iOS Settings) or open the system photo picker to let you choose an existing photo. The system photo picker does not grant Parkingly access to your full photo library — it only returns the specific photo(s) you pick.
Photos you attach are stored locally with the rest of your session data. They are not uploaded anywhere.
Background Location
If you start a parking session, Parkingly may continue receiving location updates while the session is actively recording so it can keep saving your breadcrumb trail even if the app is backgrounded. Recording stops automatically after the configured session length or when the session ends.
Notifications and Live Activities
Parkingly may request permission to send local notifications related to active sessions. Parkingly may also display Live Activity information on the lock screen while a session is being recorded.
In-App Purchases
Parkingly offers a one-time in-app purchase that unlocks additional features (such as attaching photos, section labels, and notes to a session). The purchase is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit.
Parkingly does not collect, store, or transmit your payment information. Purchases you make can be restored on your devices signed in with the same Apple ID using the "Restore Purchase" option on the in-app purchase screen.
Sharing
Parkingly does not sell your personal information.
Parkingly does not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
Parkingly only shares data as needed to provide feature requests you initiate in the app, such as Apple map-service lookups and Apple-handled in-app purchase transactions described above.
When Parkingly uses third-party providers for those limited requests, it does so only for the purpose of servicing the requested feature and expects those providers to handle the data they receive under privacy commitments intended to provide protections comparable to those described in this policy.
Retention
Data stored locally on your device remains there until:
- You delete it using the in-app "Clear my data" option
- You remove the app from your device
- You otherwise clear app data through Apple-provided device controls
External service providers may retain request logs according to their own policies.
Your Choices
You can:
- Decline or revoke location permission in iOS Settings
- Decline or revoke camera permission in iOS Settings
- Decline or revoke notification permission in iOS Settings
- Delete saved data from the app's Settings screen
- Delete the app from your device
If you revoke location access, key Parkingly features may stop working.
Children's Privacy
Parkingly is not directed to children under 13, and Parkingly is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. If the policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted with a new effective date.
